Car Burglaries, Cocaine Bust on Chicago Avenue: Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 13
Revoked License
Gary S. Reid III, 22, of the 600 block of Summit in Downers Grove, was arrested around 12:16 a.m. near Carpenter and Summit streets, police said.
During a traffic stop, police discovered Reid was driving on a revoked license and placed him under arrest, according to reports. During a search of the vehicle, the arresting officer found a jar with an electronic cigarette inside that appeared to have been used to smoke marijuana, police said.

Police also discovered a green smoking pipe, according to reports.
Reid was only charged with driving on a revoked license.

MONDAY, FEB. 11
Car Burglary on 75th Street
A car was burglarized around 6:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of 75th Street, police said. An Apple iPhone was reported stolen.
SATURDAY, FEB. 9
Drug Bust on Chicago Avenue
John F. Cook, 42, of the 0-50 block of 58th Street in Westmont, was arrested around 8:58 p.m. in the 400 block of Chicago Avenue, police said.
Police were notified by a neighbor in the area that a man had been sleeping in his car for about an hour with the engine running, according to reports. Police were able to wake the man, identified as Cook, after a minute of knocking on his window and shouting.
During questioning, Cook was distracted and his speech was quick and short, police said. Officers conducted a pat down search, and felt a long, straight tube pipe commonly used to smoke crack, according to reports.
A second crack pipe was found in the vehicle, police said.
During booking procedures at the Downers Grove police station, officers obtained a plastic vial with 1.2 grams of crack cocaine, according to reports.
Cook was charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for driving on a suspended license.
THURSDAY, FEB. 7
Car Burglary on Finley Road
A car was burglarized between 7:15 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. in the 3200 block of Finley Road, police said. The right rear window was shattered during the incident.
Police said a purse was stolen, along with a driver's license, cash, credit cards, gift cards, a checkbook and a cell phone.
