Car Battery Burglary

Someone took a $90 car battery, a $150 car jack and $50 in various tools from a sport-utility vehicle of a business on the 5400 block of Walnut Avenue. The incident took place sometime between 3 p.m. April 26 and 10 a.m. April 27, but the owner and driver were too busy with work when the incident occurred to notify police right away, a report said.

An officer did not find any signs of forced entry to the maroon 1998 Ford Expedition. One of the employees said all the doors were unlocked at the time he discovered the burglary, but another employee said he was confident he left the vehicle locked. There is a way to open or unlock Ford Expeditions from the bottom of the engine, he told police.

THURSDAY, APRIL 25

Cash, Clothes Missing

A total of $1,350 cash, two iPhone 4s and clothes went missing from a man's car parked outside a business on the 3200 block of Finley Road. The incident occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 9:55 p.m. Most of the missing items were in a book bag and plastic bag that were no longer in the man's gray 2002 Cadillac STS. The man advised that he was "pretty sure" that he locked the vehicle when he and his cousin went inside of the business, according to a police report. There were marks on the driver's side door that were not there when he arrived at the business, police said. The bags were on the back seat and the men said nobody knew about the belongings inside of them.
