Car Burglaries, Theft, Drinking in Public: Police Blotter

Downers Grove police reports, Sept. 10-27.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 27

Car Burglary on Brighton Street

A car was burglarized overnight in the 6300 block of Brighton Street, police said. A license plate was stolen from the back of the vehicle, according to the report.

Theft from a Motor Vehicle

Four hubcaps were stolen from a vehicle at Motorwerks Star Motor Sales, 1723 Ogden Ave., around 8:30 p.m., police said.

Drinking in Public

David M. Deland, 55, of the 100 block of Burlington Avenue in Westmont, and William K. Jackson, 58, of New Port Richey, FL, were arrested around 6:30 p.m. at the Fairview Depot, 5099 Fairview Ave., police said.

An officer reported seeing Deland and Jackson sitting on a park bench with a Four Loko can next to them. Jackson had an open can of Four Loko inside his backpack, police said.

Both men were cited for drinking in public, and released on $120 I-Bonds. 

Theft on Middaugh Avenue

Six steel brackets were stolen from the foundation molding at a home in the 5500 block of Middaugh Avenue sometime between 10 a.m. on Sept. 26 and 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 27, police said.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 26

Theft of Lost Property

An iPad was stolen from a treadmill machine at X-Sport Fitness, 3200 Finley Road, around 10:30 p.m., police said.

Stolen Real Estate Sign

A real estate sign was stolen from a home in the 100 block of 41st Street sometime between 3 p.m. on Sept. 25 and 10 a.m. on Sept. 26, police said.

DUI

Thomas K. Foley, 55, of the 5600 block of Main Street in Downers Grove, was arrested around 1:34 a.m. in the 4600 block of Main Street, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and was cited for operating an uninsured vehicle and driving without lights when required.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 25

Urinating in Public

David M. Deland, 55, of the 100 block of Burlington Avenue in Westmont, was arrested at the Fairview Depot, 5099 Fairview Ave., around 4:03 p.m., police said.

The arresting officer said he observed Deland standing in a bush, urinating on a building.

He was cited for urinating in public, and was released on an I-Bond. 

Attempted Burglary

An unknown offender attempted to break into a business in the 1400 block of Brook Drive sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 7:30 a.m on Sept. 25, police said.

MONDAY, SEPT. 24

Stolen HVAC Parts

Parts of a rooftop HVAC unit were stolen from the Emergency Medical Center, 1254 Ogden Ave. between 6 p.m. on Sept. 21 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 24, police said.

MONDAY, SEPT. 10

Criminal Defacement at Peace Memorial Manor

A balcony banister was damaged at Peace Memorial Manor, 3737 Highland Ave., sometime between 9 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 10, police said. Obscenities were written in pen or marker on the top portion of the banister, according to the report.
