Car Burglary in 75th Street Parking Lot, Retail Theft, Graffiti: Police Blotter

Downers Grove police reports, Feb. 14-18.

MONDAY, FEB. 18

Car Burglary on 75th Street

A car was burglarized in the 1200 block of 75th Street sometime around 4:10 p.m., police said.

Witnesses said they saw a man in his 40s wearing a gray hoodie and a tan jacket walk up to the driver's side window of a Dodge Dart and look inside. He then pulled the door open and reached inside, police said.

After closing the driver's side door, the man went around to the passenger side front door and entered the vehicle. He appeared to be going through the glove box, according to reports.

One of the witnesses sounded his horn to scare the man away. The offender left the scene in a red four-door vehicle, police said.

The victim was notified by police that his vehicle had been burglarized. Officers said they would follow up with the victim to report any stolen items.

SUNDAY, FEB. 17

Retail Theft

Madeline M. Lang, 49, and Linda Lang, 52—both of the 1300 block of Ridgeland in Berwyn—were arrested around 3:30 p.m. at a store in the 1300 block of 75th Street, police said. 

Both Madeline and Linda are accused of trying to steal perfume and an electric trimmer, police said. Madeline also had a warrant out of Will County for retail theft, according to reports.

Linda Lang was charged with one count of attempted retail theft. Madeline Lang was charged with one count of retail theft and one count of attempted obstructing of a police officer.

Driving Under the Influence of Drugs

Lucas Zielinski, 18, of Downers Grove, was arrested around 4:18 a.m. near Woodward Avenue and 63rd Street, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and disobeying a traffic control device. He was issued a March 27 court date.

THURSDAY, FEB. 14

Retail Theft

Tanner A. Hampton, 19, of Downers Grove, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. at a business in the 7400 block of Lemont Road, police said.

Hampton is accused of attempting to steal a cell phone, police said. He was charged with one count of attempted retail theft and was issued a March 27 court date.

Graffiti

A business in the 5200 block of Thatcher Road was the victim of graffiti sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 11 a.m. on Feb. 14, police said.
