Items from Downers Grove Police reports for April 4-5

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Monday, April 4

9:44 p.m.: An iPod valued at $150 and an in-dash audio system valued at $200 were taken from a car at XSport Fitness, 3200 Finley Road, between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Police said the owner came out of the facility and found two windows on the driver’s side shattered. Damage is estimated at $500.

4:46 p.m.: A resident reported a cell phone had been taken from her car in the 6500 block of Puffer Road between 4:45 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. March 21. She reported leaving the phone on the front seat of the unlocked car while she ran back into her apartment, was delayed and found the phone missing when she returned. Police said she called the phone several times but it was never answered.

Tuesday, April 5

7:42 a.m.: The driver’s side front window of a car parked at Regal Point Condominiums, 918 Rogers St., was shattered between 4:30 p.m. April 4 and 7:30 a.m. The owner stated nothing was missing from the locked car. Police said it appeared a rock found on the driver’s seat caused the estimated $250 in damage.

2:41p.m.: Jeffrey L. Edwards, 45, of Downers Grove was charged with retail theft at Home Depot, 2000 Butterfield Road, after allegedly taking sealant products valued at $52.56. A security agent at the store observed Edwards allegedly place the items under his shirt while walking throughout the store. Edwards purchased a small item and was stopped by the agent as he was exiting the store.
