Catalytic Converter Stolen Off Car in Parking Garage

Consumption of alcohol by a minor, retail theft among reports.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts

The catalytic converter was stolen off a car parked on the fourth floor of a parking garage in the 3000 block of Highland February 10 around 9 a.m.. The part was valued at $2,000.

Theft Under $500

An arcade machine was broken into and the money stolen at Cici's Pizza on Butterfield sometime during the day on February 13. An estimated $375 was stolen.

A purse was stolen from the shopping cart of a customer at Kohl's on Finley on February 13. The purse and its contents were valued at $413.

A backpack and its contents were stolen at DGS on February 10 around 4:30 p.m.. The backpack was placed on a bench by the field house gym locker, and when the student returned, it was gone. The value of the items stolen were estimated at $441.

A purse was stolen from the shopping cart of a customer at Savers on Highland February 8. The value of the purse and its contents were estimated at $174.

An iPhone valued at $400 was stolen off of a counter at XSport Fitness on Finley February 15.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Officers responded to a noise complaint twice about a possible party and underage drinking at a residence in the 7300 block of Winthrop February 11. Each time the lights were off and no one answered the door. After a third visit, the officers decided to wait in their cars and see if anyone came out, and as they did, the officers conducted traffic stops. A second traffic stop resulted in the arrests of Emma Sexton, 18 of 4836 Middaugh in Downers Grove, Maureen Eckdahl, 19 of 4512 Douglas Road in Downers Grove, William Aguilar, 20 of 218 55th street in Downers Grove, Tyler Davis, 19 of 7410 Brookdale Drive in Darien, and a juvenile. Davis was charged with Driving With a Suspended License and the rest were charged with Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

Five DGN students were charged with Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor at the DGN Winter Games on February 6. Among those charged were Thomas Riordan, 18 of 4448 Seeley, Leo Granner, 18 of 321 2nd Street, Quinn Lueder, 18 of 1125 Gilbert Ave, all of Downers Grove, and two juveniles.

Disorderly Conduct

Two students at DGS got into a fight with each other on February 9 after one student was upset with the way the other student had talked his friend. Both were charged with Disorderly Conduct.

A person entered Francesca's Hallmark on Ogden on February 11 and asked to use the restroom and was told there wasn't a public restroom available. The person became irate and threatened to defecate on the floor due to a medical condition before leaving the store. Later, the person called the store wanting to complain about the incident, at which point the store contacted the police, fearing future action from the person.

Possession of Cannabis 30gm and Under

A dean at DGN observed a quick exchange take place between two students outside of the library on February 7, and a subsequent searched turned up 8.5 grams of marijuana and a metal one-hitter. Tanner Hampton, 18 of 4227, was charged with Possession of Cannabis and Tyler Ingles, 18 of 1953 Wisconsin, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Criminal Damage to Property

Two electrical receptacles were damaged at Fischel park sometime over night on February 9.

A sliding glass door was shattered at a residence in the 7100 block of Lyman on February 9 around 6:15 p.m.. The homeowner heard a loud crash and a vehicle speeding down the street and subsequently found the glass door broken. The damage was estimated at $2,000.

Retail Theft

Gabriel St. Cloud, 42 of 8815 S. Wabash in Chicago, was charged with Retail Theft on February 13 after placing several brass shut-off valves into his pants and jacket pockets at Home Depot on Butterfield and attempting to leave without paying.

Burglary From Motor Vehicle

An ashtray and a key inside were taken from an unlocked car parked at the Warren Condos sometime between February 3 and February 8.

Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm

The window of a car parked in the 7000 block of Terrace Drive was broken out by what appeared to be a .40 caliber round on February 12 between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.. The damage was estimated at $500.
