Child Endangerment, $1,570 in Stolen Gift Cards, Malicious Mischief: Police Blotter

Stolen Gift Cards

A package containing 35 gift cards totaling $1,570 was reported stolen at St. Mary of Gostyn School, 440 Prairie Ave., police said.

The principal told police the package was outside the office door on Friday, Dec. 7, and was moved to the mailroom for the weekend, according to reports. The package was nowhere to be found when she returned Monday.

All gift cards were deactivated, and the school was reimbursed, police said.

Child Endangerment

Arissara Wehrman, 36, of the 100 block of Queenswood Parkway in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 12:45 p.m. outside Toys-R-Us, 1540 75th St., police said.

Police were called to the store for a report of a baby left unattended inside a vehicle, according to reports. The child was sleeping in a car seat when the officer arrived, police said.

According to the report, the vehicle was locked but the driver's window was open 3 inches. It was 39 degrees at the time, police said.

Wehrman, the child's mother, was located inside the store's checkout line, police said. She was placed under arrest and charged with one count of endangering the life or health of a child.

She was issued a Jan. 16, 2013 court date in Wheaton.

FRIDAY, DEC. 7

Malicious Mischief

Police were called to the 7000 block of Hillcrest Drive around 8:42 p.m. for a report of vandalism, according to reports.

The homeowner told officers he saw four men wearing dark clothes and hooded sweatshirts running around on his front lawn, police said. Upon further inspection, the homeowner saw several white, plastic forks and small marshmallows scattered on his lawn, police said.

The incident was believed to be school-related, as something similar happened to a friend of the victim's daughter, police said.
