Denburn Woods Homeowners Offer $2,000 Reward

Neighborhood is seeking information relating to the rash of thefts and vandalism that occurred there between July 15 and 16.

The beleaguered residents of the Denburn Woods neighborhood have banded together to offer a $2,000 reward for help in finding the person or persons responsible for in the woody enclave.

The Denburn Woods Homeowners Association advised Downers Grove Police that is offering the reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the vandalism, theft and damage to property that occurred in their neighborhood between July 15 and 16.

A on Meadow Lane that did more than $2.5 million in property damage is not included in the reward because it has not been classified as a crime. The Downers Grove Fire Department continues to investigate that blaze.

The incidents relating to the reward include the theft of a Weber grill and cover, damage to a light fixture and sundial, the puncturing and slashing of car tires, damage to outdoor equipment, plants that were uprooted and a $200 statue that was toppled from its base. Most of the incidents occurred between the evening of July 15 and 4 p.m. July 16. The house fire at 5310 Meadow Lane was reported at 4:30 p.m.

The neighborhood was rocked again Thursday when a witness saw The man, who may have been armed, fled into the woods as police arrived, leading to a four-hour manhunt that ultimately proved unsuccessful.
