Diesel Fuel Stolen from Trucks, DUI, Retail Theft: Police Blotter

Downers Grove police reports, Feb. 13-20.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 20

DUI

Alexander P. Welk, 34, of Atlanta, GA, was arrested around 2:50 a.m. near Interstate 88 and Highland Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and disobeying a traffic control signal. He was issued a March 27 court date.

Stolen Diesel Fuel

Diesel fuel was stolen from two commercial trucks in the 3100 block of Woodcreek Drive sometime between 2 p.m. on Feb. 15 and 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 19, police said. The front class of a Bobcat tractor was also damaged in the incident.

Retail Theft

Robert J. Zermeno, 27, of La Grange, and Bartlotmeij T. Lupa, 29, of Brookfield, were arrested around 8:10 a.m. at a store in the 1100 block of Ogden Avenue, police said.

Zermeno and Lupa are accused of trying to steal several pharmacy items totaling $1,375.92—including Prilosec, Mucinex and Claritan, police said.

The manager of the store told police the men were the subjects of a surveillance operation by the La Grange Police Department after committing several thefts in the area, according to reports.

Both men were charged with retail theft.
