Dominick's Card Leads Police to Alleged Thief

Items from Downers Grove Police Reports for Feb. 28-March 1.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Monday, Feb. 28

4 p.m.: Patricia S. Glasgow, 59, of Downers Grove was charged with theft after allegedly taking money from another woman’s purse at Dominick’s, 42 Ogden Ave.

A woman who reported leaving her purse at the store 's checkout counter discovered $296 missing when she retrieved it. A loss prevention employee at the store observed Glasgow on video surveillance take money from the purse, place it in her pocket and make a purchase using her Dominick's savings card.

Police went to the address associated with the Dominick's card and found Glasgow, who acknowledged being at the store. A man at the residence turned over bills from his pocket totaling $220. Glasgow was taken to the station and later released on bond.

Tuesday, March 1

9:26 a.m.: Tires and rims valued at $2,000 were taken from a vehicle parked in the lot at Zeigler Automotive, 2311 Ogden Ave. between 9 p.m. Feb. 28 and 7 a.m. March 1. Police said the vehicle was left on the pavement causing under carriage damage of $2,000.

8:19 p.m.: Tangela S. Covens, 24, of Chicago was charged with driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop near Butterfield Road and Highland Avenue. Covens claimed she did not have her driver’s license and gave the officer a name. The officer grew suspicious that Covens didn’t properly identify herself because she didn’t look for identification and had a different name tattooed on her neck.  Covens acknowledged her true identity after a check of the vehicle’s registration revealed  her driver’s license had been suspended. 

11:16 p.m.: A car window was shattered, possibly by a pellet or BB Gun, in the 5800 block of Carpenter Street between 9:15 p.m. and 11:16 p.m. Damage was estimated at $200.
