At least one juvenile and eight adult minors were all charged with underage drinking after Downers Grove police broke up their March 9 gathering, according to a report.

Six police officers and one sergeant arrived at 1:23 a.m. to a home on the 1200 block of Andrus Avenue. Police received word that there were several friends of a resident over at the home drinking alcohol, all underage. Police found some of them on the front porch.

As the officers approached the home, everyone but 18-year-old Jake A. Rak went inside. Rak identified himself and admitted to drinking beer and hard alcohol. He was placed under arrest and taken to a squad car.

The partygoers would not respond to an officer's attempt to contact them from outside. An unidentified person said the officers could enter the home and opened the front door for them.

Police found several of the guests in the laundry room of the basement. Each minor was identified and then submitted to a portable breath test. An officer located another minor hiding next to the furnace in the basement. The minor was arrested.

Three more minors, Zachary Deleshe-Medlin, Anthony Gregorich and Scott Putrukovich, were found in the garage. They were also placed under arrest. Police took two juveniles and six adult minors in a Woodridge Police transport van to the Downers Grove Police Department for booking. One officer transported Jessica A. Fields, the only adult female at the gathering, in a squad car. Rak came to the station in the squad car he was placed in.

The following adults were charged with violating Village Ordinance 3.34, unlawful possession and consumption of alcohol by persons underage. Most of them are 19-year-old Downers Grove residents, except where noted:

  • Zachary E. Deleshe-Medlin, of the 8500 block of Highcrest Drive, Darien
  • Jessica A. Fields, of the 6700 block of Bunker Hill Circle
  • Anthony D. Gregorich, 18, of the 1600 block of Alamance Pl
  • John F. McMahon, of the 400 block of Davis Street
  • Scott T. Putrukovich, of the 8600 block of Washington Street
  • Jake A. Rak, 18, of the 800 block of Claremont Drive
  • Christopher C. Ullrich, of the 7100 block of Matthias Road

A juvenile was also charged with violating the underage drinking ordinance. He was released on an I-bond to his mother. Since some of the report is redacted, it is unclear if a second juvenile was charged. Photos were taken at the residence and entered into evidence.
