Early Morning Fire Leaves Downers Grove Home With $250,000 in Damages

The one-story home was under construction and empty, and nobody was injured in the blaze.

A small one-story Downers Grove home caught fire in the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 9, and suffered an estimated $250,000 in damages before firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, the Downers Grove Fire Department said in a release. 

The Fire Department arrived at 610 Rogers Street at 4:27 a.m. to find “smoke and flames coming from the roof and window” of the house. The home was under construction and unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Firefighters entered the home to combat the conflagration. By 4:40 a.m., the fire was extinguished with no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

The Lisle-Woodridge, Oak Brook and Hinsdale fire departments assisted at the scene, along with Downers Grove police and public works.

 The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
