Downers Grove Kicks Off Vandalism Tipster Award Program
Reported information could result in monetary rewards up to $5,000, officials announced Monday.
In an effort to reduce and eliminate damage caused by vandalism, the Downers Grove Park District and Downers Grove Police Department have partnered to create a new "Vandalism Tipster Award Program."
Residents are encouraged to report information regarding vandalism of park district or public property to the following numbers:
- Geoff Penman, director of operations and development at the Downers Grove Park District, 630-963-1304;
- Detective Jeremy Thayer of the Downers Grove Police Department, 630-434-5653.
Should reported information lead to the arrest and conviction of a vandalism perpetrator or conspirator, the tipster may be eligible for a monetary reward of up to $5,000, for cases in which the vandalism of park district property is in excess of $2,500, officials said.
The Downers Grove Park District is currently offering a reward of $2,000 for a series of vandalism, theft and damage to public property; most notably the fire that recently damaged the new restroom facility at McCollum Park.
