Downers Grove Police Chief Honored with Patriot Award

Chief Robert Porter was recognized for his support of Police Officer Mike Eddy—who is an also a Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard who just finished his fifth deployment.

Downers Grove Police Chief Robert Porter was presented at the Jan. 7 Village Council meeting with the Patriot Award from the Illinois Employer Support of Guard and Reserve, an office of the United States Department of Defense. 

Chief Porter was nominated for the award by Downers Grove Officer Mike Eddy, a Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard. Officer Eddy recently returned from his fifth deployment to Afghanistan. 

The Patriot Award recognizes supervisors and bosses nominated by a Guardsman or Reservist employee for support provided directly to the nominator.
