Downers Grove police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to a lure a 15-year-old girl to his vehicle Thursday morning.
Police said the girl was walking to school near Dunham Road and Concord Drive around 7:40 a.m. when a large, white SUV slowed and the male driver asked her to come to the vehicle.
The girl continued walking and the vehicle followed her to the 6700 block of Dunham Road, where she changed directions and ran from the area, police said. The vehicle then left the area in an unknown direction.
Police searched the surrounding area immediately after they were notified of the incident, but were unable to locate the described vehicle.
The Downers Grove Police Department released a sketch of the driver Thursday afternoon. He is described as Hispanic, and is believed to be in his 30s or 40s, with long, brown hair tied up in a ponytail, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 630-434-5600.
Police said they have increased patrols in the area and at all local schools. Parents are asked to remind children to be aware of strangers, and to immediately report any concerns to police.
