Downers Grove Teen Charged in Hinsdale Home Burglary
The Downers Grove resident was found with a ring that was reported stolen during a timeframe in which she was was inside the Madison Street home.
Jewelry taken from a Hinsdale home last month was found during a Dec. 6 traffic stop involving a Downers Grove teen, Hinsdale police said.
Rebecca J. Labelle, 18, of the 7900 bock of Woodglenn Lane, was charged with residential burglary and criminal trespassing, police said. The jewelry went missing from the home in November while Labelle was a guest, police said.
Labelle, an acquaintance of the victimized homeowner’s child, was one of two guests inside a home in the 10 block of South Madison Street between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 9, police said. The homeowner reported on Nov. 25 that numerous pieces of jewelry had been taken during that timeframe.

Following an investigation, police said, a warrant was obtained for Labelle’s arrest.
On Dec. 6 at 3:15 p.m., a Hinsdale police officer identified Labelle as a passenger in a vehicle that the officer then stopped near the intersection of Holmes Avenue and Willow Creek Road in Clarendon Hills. During the stop, police said Labelle was found to be in possession of a ring with a diamond stone that was among the items missing from the Hinsdale home.

Labelle was arrested and transported to DuPage County Jail for a bond hearing, police said.
“She was charged with criminal trespass and burglary because she returned to the home after being asked to leave the residence by the family member [that she was an acquaintance of],” Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said.
Wodka said the value of the ring is unknown, as are the whereabouts of the other missing items.
