DUI, Drinking in Public Arrests: Police Blotter

THURSDAY, SEPT. 5

Drinking at the Park

Police charged Robert J. Okonski, 52, of the 900 block of Warren Avenue, Downers Grove, with drinking in public. A woman waved down an officer at about 9:15 a.m. to report a half-naked man inside of the patio area at Hummer Park on the 4800 block of Fairview Avenue, according to a police report. The officer saw Okonski drink from an aluminum can and then throw it into a garbage can as he approached him.

"I asked Robert why someone would have told me that he was half-naked, and he advised that he had urinated in the corner of the patio and 'she might have saw,' " the report said. "I asked Robert if he knew that drinking alcohol in public was illegal in Downers Grove, and he advised, 'Yeah, but I'm not bothering anyone.' "

After another officer arrived on scene, Okonski was placed under arrest, handcuffed and searched. Okonski was charged and released on I-bond, according to the report.

Syringes Found During Warrant Arrest

Kailee A. Dearcangelis, 25, of the 500 block of Austin Street, Downers Grove, was arrested on two outstanding DuPage County warrants for failure to appear in court on unspecified charges. Someone notified police at 6:25 p.m. that Dearcangelis had an active warrant and was walking near the area of Douglas and Austin, according to a police report.

After police placed Dearcangelis in handcuffs, four syringes and two plastic bags containing white residue were found in her purse, the report said. The trace amounts of residue were sent to a lab for testing, according to police.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 3

Drinking at the Depot

Police charged Jason A. Marker, 31, of the 5200 block of Main Street, Downers Grove, and Raul Torres, 54, of the 600 block of Ronald, Addison, with drinking in public. Two officers and a sergeant at 8:31 a.m. responded to the Main Street Depot on the 1000 block of Burlington Avenue for the incident. They saw Torres and Marker drinking beer and took them into custody, according to a police report. Marker and Torres were released on I-bond and will be mailed a court date.

FRIDAY, AUG. 30

DUI, No Headlamps

Roy L. Weil, of the 1300 block of Creighton, Naperville, was arrested at 1:02 a.m. at 41st and Saratoga. Weil was charged with DUI alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and no headlamps. His gray Honda Ridgeline was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has an Oct. 2 court date in Wheaton.
