License Plate Swiped During Flood

Someone might have taken the front license plate off a woman's BMW while it was stranded during the April 18 flood, according to police. The woman's black 2005 BMW BX5 got stuck at 8:50 a.m. that day on the 500 block of Hill Street. The BMW was towed the next day and kept in the woman's garage until April 25. The woman then learned that the $95 license plate was missing when the vehicle was towed away again from her house on this day. She did not have any leads or suspects at the time of the report.

Attempted Burglary

A man at 12:55 p.m. appeared to be forcing his way into a home on the 6000 block of Ridgewood Circle, according to a woman inside at the time. The man appeared to be 20 years old and ran northbound on Ridgewood from the house before police arrived. He entered the passenger side of a small black four-door car occupied by another man in the driver's seat. The car drove northbound from the scene, the police report said.

The man first banged on the front door of the home. The woman didn't answer but saw him go to the black car and speak to the driver. He then came back and banged on the side porch door. The woman called her husband, then the police and finally left through the front door.

When she left, the man then ran from the home towards the vehicle. A police lieutenant and an evidence technician responded to the woman's home to process the scene. Other units that responded could not find the black car.
