Juvenile Student at DGN Charged with Possession

Retail theft, criminal damage to property among reports.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Delivery/Possession of Controlled Substance

Two juvenile students at DGN were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance on March 5 after a dean at DGN received info that one of the students was in possession of illegal drugs led to police officials finding 15 Vicodin pills on the students. One of the two juveniles charged with possession was also charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

Theft Over $500

An iPhone 4S was stolen from a gym bag at XSport Fitness on Finley on March 7. The phone was valued at $800.

An iPhone 4S was stolen from the YMCA on 59th Street March 8 between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.. The owner said he put the phone underneath his friend's gym bag in the fieldhouse, and it was gone when he returned.

Retail Theft

Ventura Rubio, 31 of 4014 Cass Ave. in Westmont, was charged with Retail Theft after attempting to leave Fry's Electronics on Finley March 7 without paying for items he placed in his coat.

Ligaya Smith, 62 of 1220 Hinckley Street in Aurora, was charged with Retail Theft after attempting to leave Kohl's on Finley March 11 without paying for various necklaces she put in her purse after entering a dressing room.

Michael Janczewski, 27 of 2940 Wellington in Lisle, was charged with Retail Theft after attempting to leave Kohl's on Finley March 9 without paying for a Zoo York pocket watch in his pocket. The watch was valued at $40.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

A 2010 Mercedes Benz S550 was stolen from the third level of a parking garage in the 2000 block of Butterfield March 8 sometime between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Criminal Damage to Motor Vehicle

All four tires on a car parked in a driveweay in the 1900 block of Wellington were cut sometime overnight on March 10. Additionally, the had a long scratch on it. Damage was estimated at $950.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

An officer responded to a call of a juvenile subject urinating in the parking lot of McDonald's on Ogden and refusing to leave on March 10. Upon arrival, DPGD noticed the subject parked in the lot with with his car sticking half out of the spot. The driver was charged with Possession of Alcohol by a Minor.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle

A backpack and its contents were stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 5400 block of Cumnor sometime overnight on March 8. The value of the items stolen was estimated at $475.

Criminal Damage to Property

A rock was used to break a window at a house under construction in the 6700 block of Meadowcrest Drive sometime between March 8 and March 9. The house also suffered damage to the floor and a kitchen cabinet, and damage was estimated at $1,750.

A picture window of a residence in the 600 block of Blackstone Drive was damaged with a brick on March 8. The damage was valued at $500.

Disorderly Conduct

Two juvenile male students got into a fight at DGS on March 8 and both were charged with Disorderly Conduct.
