Stolen Rental Car

A rental car was reported stolen from Hertz, 1728 Ogden Ave., police said.

The manager told police a car was rented Nov. 9, but was not returned by its due date of Nov. 26. Two certified letters of demand were mailed to the corresponding address, but they were returned after three days, police said.

According to reports, the address on the paperwork was to a strip mall in Chicago. The firm Collateral Consultants was hired to retrieve the vehicle.

The firm told police the credit card used to rent the car was fraudulent. Police discovered the person who rented the car had stolen a woman's license number, and used a fake phone number and address.
