Man Charged With Theft

A 56-year-old Lombard man is headed to court after police say he tried to steal a sim card worth about $2,000. Douglas A. McNight, of the 2000 block of S. Finley Road, was charged with retail theft following an incident at a store on the 3300 block of Finley Road.

A store security agent noticed McNight acting suspicious in the electronic accessory aisle. From a security camera he saw McNight place a sim card into his right front coat pocket. He also took five other sim cards but did not conceal them. McNight headed to the checkout counter and paid for the unconcealed cards. As he exited the store past the final point of purchase, the agent detained him and found a sim card worth $1,995 in his right coat pocket.

Police handcuffed and searched McNight at least once. He was taken to the Downers Grove Police Department, charged and released on an I-bond. His court date was not yet assigned at the time of the police report.
