Man Threatened with Murder During Phone Call

Theft, suspicious incident among reports

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Telephone Threat

A DG resident was threatened with violence on March 5 while arguing over the phone with an unknown person who was allegedly attempting to scam the resident out of money. The resident told police he received an initial call from the unknown person a few weeks earlier in which the caller told the resident he had won $100,000 but needed to wire $400 via Western Union in order to claim it. The resident said he would wire the money if the caller could prove he actually won, but the resident never heard back. On March 5, the same caller called again asking why he hadn't sent the money, and when the resident told him he knew it was a scam, the caller threatened to come and kill the resident and his wife. In response, the resident told the caller he would find him and “shove a double-barrel shotgun up his ass and pull the trigger and not think twice about it” according to the police report. The two men exchanged a few more words over the phone before the resident hung up. The caller called back and again threatened to kill the resident, and the resident hung up again and called the police. Attempts at contacting the unknown caller via the number left on the resident's caller ID were unsuccessful.
