A man is behind bars after he was found with about 40 bags of heroin.
police arrested Chad E. Hinshaw, 32, of Pontiac, at 6:10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Remington Boulevard and Brookview Lane.
Hinshaw was a passenger in a car that had been stopped by police for failing to signal when required after cutting across three lanes of traffic. The traffic violation resulted in causing several other commuters to apply their brakes to avoid a collision with the car, police said.
Officers said they saw Hinshaw “duck down and then briskly move around the seat.”
After approaching the vehicle, police said Hinshaw continued to fidget and act nervous. Further investigation revealed Hinshaw was in possession of a clear plastic bag containing 40 smaller bags of a white powdery substance which tested positive for the presence of heroin, according to police.
Hinshaw is being charged with possession of a controlled substance and manufacture/delivery of heroin.
He was taken into custody, processed and transported to Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was issued a citation and released from the scene.
