New Fire Hires Get Extrication Training

Downers Grove Fire Department took recent hires out for "Jaws of Life" training.

In a backlot of O'Hare Towing in on Friday three new hires of the received auto extrication training.

The training was led by lieutenants Thomas Frank and Joe Difatta with firefighter paramedics Brian Meister and Jason Slager on hand as well.

The new hires, referred to as "candidates", were Nick Gilbert, Scott Sohn and Matt Liaromatis.

Training involved securing vehicles, removing doors, and avoiding crucial wires while cutting into segments of the vehicle's frame.
