Two large items, a refrigerator and a 200-pound slushy machine, were purloined last week.

was stolen from the driveway of a house in the 1100 block of Adelia in Downers Grove sometime overnight July 14. The owner said the machine was left outside until her son was able to clean it and move it into the garage.

A ever since employees at UPS, 205 E. Butterfield Road, Elmhurst cleaned it and set it outside to thaw between 9 a.m. and noon July 14. The refrigerator, which was worth $150, was placed next to a Dumpster, so it may have been mistaken as garbage, police said.

A woman while it was parked in an Elmhurst parking lot sometime between 10 a.m. July 6 and 2:08 a.m. July 7. It was later determined she had stopped paying for the vehicle, so the rental company repossessed it.

I Thought You Guys Forgot About Me

An 18-year-old St. Charles on St. Charles Park District officials forgetting he had been permanently banned from the parks.

According to St. Charles police, Joshua Alec Love, 234 Grande Ridge Rd., was spotted July 9 by park officials at the skate park. The police asked Love if he knew he had been banned. Love told police yes, but was hoping the park district staff would have forgotten, according to the report.

Love was given a court date of Aug. 22.

‘Shocking’ Language Provokes Park Employee

of a golf cart led to an altercation involving an 18-year-old Downers Grove Park District employee at McCollum Park around 7:45 p.m. July 11. The park district employee—a men's softball supervisor—was riding and then standing near a park district golf cart. The victim in the altercation, who was with his cousin and a friend, remarked a couple of times that he'd like to steal the golf cart some day, and said that the employee told the victim if he wanted the golf cart to come and take it. The employee then grabbed the victim by the neck and right shoulder, according to the police report. The victim's companions told the employee to stop, and he did. The employee told police the victim was swearing and said, “You think you're something because you work for the park district.” The employee said he was “shocked” by his language and “lost it.” He grabbed the victim, then stopped and immediately apologized. The victim and his companions denied swearing at the employee. No charges were filed and the Park District was notified of the incident.
