Disturbing Writing on a Pumpkin

A call was made Oct. 21 stating that disturbing writing was found on a pumpkin in the 7100 block of Grand Ave. in Downers Grove. The pumpkin graffiti artist is still at large.

Man Charged with Drinking in Public

William K. Jackson, 59, of Palatine was charged with drinking in public after police observed him drinking a can of Milwaukee's Best Ice beer Oct. 21 at the Main Street Depot, 1000 Burlington Ave., Downers Grove.

FRIDAY, OCT. 18

Messing with an Air Conditioner and Stealing Gatorade

A man faces charges after police were called Oct. 18 to the 6100 block of Lane Place in Downers Grove. John J. Calderone, 18, of 1908 Harcourt, Woodridge was charged with residential burglary after police were called about suspicious activity in the area. Calderone was questioned and admitted to stealing a gatorade from the CVS Pharmacy on Main Street. He also possessed a backpack with a Playstation 3 video game console in it. Another call came in while he was being questioned, stating that the caller's window air conditioner was pulled apart from the frame. This coincided with the same time frame as the suspicious activity. At this time Calderone was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Retail Theft at CVS

The CVS pharmacy at 400 Ogden Ave. in Downers Grove suffered a theft on Oct. 18 of nearly $2,000, mostly in over the counter antacids and allergy pills. Michael Trevino, 30, of Chicago was charged with a class 3 retail theft felony after he was observed placing 85 containers of over the counter medication into a garbage bag in the pharmacy. Police were called before Trevino left the store and they apprehended him shortly after.
