Police: Man Tried to Lure 13-Year-Old Girl in Downers Grove

The man reportedly approached the girl in his gold Chevrolet Impala around 6:38 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Downers Grove police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to lure a 13-year-old girl to his vehicle while she was walking home from school Tuesday evening.

Police said the girl was dropped off at a bus stop near 61st Street and Belmont Road around 6:38 p.m. when the alleged incident occurred.

The girl was waiting to cross street when a vehicle passed her, heading north on Belmont Road, police said. As the vehicle passed, the male driver waved at her, made a U-turn and proceeded south past her. The vehicle then made another U-turn and stopped at the curb next to her, where the man rolled down his passenger-side window and offered her a ride, police said.

He was wearing silver-rimmed, square glasses and a light tan jacket at the time of the incident, police said.
