WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 5

Unlawful Discharge of an Air Gun

Roland J. Cesar III, 18, of the 6000 block of Leonard in Downers Grove, and Joseph F. Kwak, 23, of the 6000 block of Leonard in Downers Grove, were arrested around 9:45 a.m. in the 6000 block of Leonard, police said. 

An individual reported seeing Kwak around 9:45 a.m. in the driveway, pointing a handgun at a red car as it drove past, police said. Upon searching Cesar's bedroom, police found two air soft handguns.

Graffiti at Whitlock Park

Several items were painted with graffiti on the northwest corner of Whitlock Park, 4064 Cumnor Road, sometime between 9 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 4, police said. White spray paint was observed on a garbage can, two trees, an electrical box and on the sidewalk near Cumnor Avenue.

Vandalism at Pierce Downers

A custodian at Pierce Downers School, 1436 Grant St., told police that someone used an unknown type of weed/grass removal product to damage grass on the property sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4.

MONDAY, SEPT. 3

Driving Under the Influence

Reuben J. Nieto, 21, of the 700 block of Westwind Drive in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 1:05 a.m. near Interstate 355 and Butterfield Road, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to signal when required. He was issued an Oct. 10 court date.

Bike Theft on Main Street

A bike was stolen from inside a business in the 5100 block of Main Street sometime between 10 p.m. on Sept. 2 and 12:20 a.m. on Sept. 3, police said.

Bike Theft at the YMCA

A bike was stolen from a rack in front of the Downers Grove YMCA, 711 59th St., sometime between 5 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., police said. The bike was described as a red and black mountain bike with wobbly handles.

String of Vandalized Mailboxes

Police said several mailboxes were damaged overnight on Adelia, Carol and Norfolk streets—located southwest of 63rd and Main streets. Three mailboxes were damaged on Norfolk Street, five on Carol Street and two on Adelia Street.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 2

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Victor A. Munoz, 18, of the 500 block of Downers Place in Downers Grove, and Jose A. Escobar, 22, of the 1600 block of Dearborn in Aurora, were arrested around 3:05 a.m. near the intersection of Highland and Prairie avenues, police said. Munoz was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. Escobar was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and was cited with no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and obstructed windshield.

Driving Under the Influence

Kamil T. Smrokowski, 23, of the 5300 block of Burroak in Lisle, was arrested around 5:28 a.m. in the 1500 block of Ogden Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage and expired registration. He was issued an Oct. 10 court date.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 1

Driving Under the Influence

Nikola Karanakov, 22, of the 7300 block of Grand in Downers Grove, was arrested around 2:25 a.m. near 61st and Main streets, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and no seat belt. He was issued an Oct. 3 court date.

FRIDAY, AUG. 31

Criminal Damage to Property

The center brake light was damaged on a vehicle in the 1000 block of Warren Avenue sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., police said.
