Smoldering Mattress Found at Family Video

Theft, battery among reports.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Suspicious Incident

DGPD arrived at Family Video on Belmont on February 1 to find a smoldering futon mattress in the parking lot. DGPD attempted to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher, but couldn't, so DGFD came and put it out. No one knows how the mattress got there.

Theft Under $500

An iPhone 4 valued at $199was stolen from an unlocked locker during gym class on January 26 at DGS.

An iPhone valued at $400 was stolen from a duffel bag next to a basketball court at the YMCA on 59th street while the owner was playing basketball on February 1.

Criminal Damage to Property

The passenger side mirror of a car parked in the 4900 block of Linscott was broken in the evening of January 30. Damage was estimated at $100.

Disorderly Conduct

Two female students got into a fight during class on January 30 at DGS. One of the girls was charged with a village ordinance for disorderly conduct.

Two male students got into a fight at DGN on January 27. Both were charged with disorderly conduct—fighting. One of the kids was fifteen while the other was 18-year-old Matthew Maciejewski of 439 Sherman Street.

Theft From Motor Vehicle

An iPod Touch valued at $200 was allegedly stolen from a car brought to Delta Sonic on Ogden for an interior car wash on January 21.

Battery

Three female students got into a fight on January 30 at DGS requiring four DGS faculty members to break it up.

Unlawful Discharge of an Airgun

Thirty-nine year-old Enrique Sahagun was arrested in the 1900 block of Wisconsin on January 31 and charged with Unlawful Discharge of an Airgun.

Criminal Trespass to Land

Erica Aponte, 36 of 000705 W. Liberty Street in Wheaton and Robert Prysmiki, 56 of 004110 N. Park in Westmont, were charged with criminal trespass to property after smoking and drinking inside the Fairview Quick Wash on February 1 and refusing to leave when asked to by management and police.

Retail Theft

A drunk man walked around Dominick’s on Ogden on January 31 eating food he didn't have the money to pay for.

Possession of Cannabis 30gm and Under

Michael Emery, 25 of 3S242 Arbor Lane in Glen Ellyn, was charged with possession of cannabis after officers conducted a traffic stop on January 31 because Emery was driving at night without his headlights on. Officers found the cannabis while searching Emery's car prior to it being towed. Emery was also charged with driving on a suspended license.

Theft Over $500

A wallet containing $500 was taken from the inside of a jacket pocket hung up on a coat rack inside The Cellar Door on Main January 30. The wallet was later found in the bathroom, but the money was gone.
