South High Student Suspected of Theft Charged with Pot Possession

Disorderly conduct, burglary from motor vehicle among reports.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Possession of Cannabis

Kristen Dodd, 18, of 1904 Nottingham Road in Woodridge, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on May 15 after initially being suspected of stealing money from the women's locker room at Downers Grove South High. Three students reported thefts during first, second and seventh hour gym classes, and when police reviewed footage from a nearby security camera, Dodd was the only unsupervised student in the locker room during those times. A search of Dodd's locker turned up 4.5 grams of marijuana, grinder and $168 in cash. Dodd was initially charged with theft but the charge was dropped when the victims couldn't provide a specific dollar amount stolen.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle

A camera, cash, cellphone and more were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1700 block of Brookwood Drive overnight on May 22.

A GPS, radar detector and golf clubs valued at $1,120 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1100 block of 63rd Street sometime overnight on May 22.

The front license plate of a vehicle parked in the 6100 block of Leonard was stolen sometime overnight on May 24.

Five dollars in change was stolen from a car parked in a driveway in the 7100 block of Blackburn sometime overnight on May 24.

An estimated $1,000 in dollar coins was stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 4000 block of Williams sometime overnight on May 26. Also stolen were sunglasses and a carton of cigarettes.

Theft Over $500

A gas powered generator valued at $5,000 mounted to a concrete pad at a residence in the 6100 block of Hillcrest was stolen sometime between May 20 and May 25.

Disorderly Conduct

Matthew Talamo, 19, of 485 S. Arlington Avenue in Elmhurst, was charged with disorderly conduct after falsely pulling a fire alarm at the Prentiss Creek Apartments in the 2100 block of Prentiss on May 28.
