Attempted Santa Theft, Public Drinking, Drug Possession: Police Blotter

Public Drinking

Christopher James Bussman, 42, of the 600 block of 65th Street in Westmont, was arrested around 12:57 p.m. in the 4900 block of Linscott Avenue, police said.

An officer was called to the Prince Pond area after reports of a man yelling at passing cars, according to reports. Upon the officer's arrival, he saw Bussman sitting on a bench with a cold, partially full 24-ounce can of Icehouse beer next to him on the ground, police said.

Bussman was arrested and charged with drinking on public property.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Officers responded to a home in the 4500 block of Main Street around 8:35 p.m. for a report of criminal trespass, according to reports.

The owner of the house told officers her son's friend, Brad Bree, was sleeping on a mattress in her basement, even after he was told over the summer that he was not welcome, police said.

The woman told police she just wanted them to ask Bree to leave. However, officers found two smoking pipes near the mattress he was sleeping on in the basement, according to reports.

Bree, 27, of the 700 block of Keller in Plano, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a Jan. 9, 2013 court date.

SATURDAY, DEC. 1

Possession of Drug Equipment

Jacob A. Moeller, 25, of t he 8300 block of Lakeside Drive in Downers Grove, was arrested around 5 p.m. near Dunham Road and Crystal Street, police said.

Moeller was pulled over for disobeying a stop sign when the arresting officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle, police said. While running his identification through the system, the officer discovered a failure to appear warrant for his arrest.

While searching his vehicle, the officer discovered a metal smoking pipe, police said.

Moeller was charged with one misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and was issued a Jan. 9, 2013 court date, police said.

FRIDAY, NOV. 30

Teen Tries to Steal Santa from Front Yard

A teenager attempted to steal a 4-foot plastic Santa Claus statue from the front yard of a home in the 100 block of Lincoln Street, police said.

A man told police he was standing outside smoking a cigar when he saw a dark green, two-door Ford Sport SUV pull up to his neighbor's house. A male subject—described as 19 years old, approximately 5-foot-8, 160-180 pounds—got out of the SUV and walked toward some Christmas decorations in the front yard, police said.

The teen pulled a 4-foot plastic Santa statue from the ground, and began to run with it back to the SUV, police said. The neighbor yelled at the teen and began running after him. The teen attempted to put the Santa into the back of the SUV, but dropped it on the street and jumped it into the vehicle, police said.

The neighbor told police the teen took off quickly, turning northbound on Cumnor Road.

No complaints were signed, police said.

Possession of Marijuana

Christopher M. Johnson, 21, of the 0-50 block of Addison in Villa Park, was arrested around 12:52 p.m. in the 3900 block of Williams, police said.

Johnson was stopped after rolling through a stop sign, police said. A check on the vehicle showed the license plates were suspended for a mandatory insurance violation, police said.

While searching Johnson, he found a Newport cigarette pack in his pants pocket. The pack contained four individual, small plastic bags with a green, leafy substance, police said.

Police then searched Johnson's vehicle and found another Newport pack with one small, plastic bag containing a green, leafy substance, police said.

Johnson was charged with one count of unlawful possession of cannabis, and was issued two citations for disobeying a stop sign, police said.
