SWAT Team Trains on Cumnor

Exercises are vital to the job.

The FIAT SWAT team is training today on Cumnor Avenue between Second and Third streets.

FIAT—the Felony Investigative Assistance Team—is a multi-jursdictional police task force serving DuPage County communities including Downers Grove. Last fall, FIAT responded to near Highland School.

The team trains every other week at locations across the county, said Sgt. David Bormann of the Downers Grove Police Dept. "Training is vital to our jobs."

The Cumnor location was selected because the village offered to allow FIAT to use homes it owns for the exercises. The homes were acquired for stormwater remediation purposes.

Bormann said neighbors were notified by flyers yesterday. Large signs advising of the training were also erected.
