Teen Girl Tries to Fight Boy, Boy Punches Her

Disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property among reports.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Battery

Two 16-year-old students at DGS—one male, one female—were charged with battery after getting into a fight with each other on April 25. Initially, the boy told the girl she had a deep, manly voice, which caused the girl to confront him later. She attempted to kick him in the groin, but he blocked it and punched her. The next day, she confronted him again and tried to punch him in the face, but he avoided the punch and punched her in the face instead. Both were put on a “90 day informal station adjustment for battery”.

Criminal Damage to Property

A $50 window pane was broken in the 5100 block of Fairview on April 30 after a woman knocking on the glass window of a residence she was just kicked out of inadvertently broke the pane. The 30-year-old woman was kicked out for arguing with the resident after the woman didn't like the way the resident handled a fight between a three-year-old and seven-year-old who were fighting over a toaster strudel. The two women started arguing, the resident pushed the 30-year-old out and shut the door. The woman immediately started knocking on the door and broke a pane of glass.

Burglary

Over $3,000 in tools and equipment were stolen from a pickup truck and a garage in the 500 block of 62nd sometime after midnight on May 1. The truck was parked in the driveway with a tarp over the items in the back. Stolen from the truck and garage—neither with signs of forced entry—were a generator, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, blower and battery charger.

Retail Theft

Francisco Diaz, 31, of 737 North Lincoln in Villa Park, was charged with Retail Theft on April 24 after attempting to steal items from the TJ Maxx Home Goods on Lemont. Diaz, an employee of the store, was observed on camera sweeping up items from the shelves that were lying on the floor into a pile with a bunch of other debris and putting it all into the same trash bag. Diaz then went into the janitor's closet, removed the items and put them in his pocket.
