Trespassing at Local Park, Car Burglaries, Garage Graffiti: Police Blotter

MONDAY, APRIL 22

Man Arrested for the Second Time at Local Park

Andrew O'Donnell, 18, of the 3600 block of Creekwood Court, Downers Grove, was charged with criminal trespass to land after returning to a local park where he was arrested earlier this month, police said.

An officer said he found O'Donnell sitting near the restrooms at Doerhoefer Park, 3020 Saratoga Ave., around 12:05 p.m., and recognized him from an April 11 arrest at the same park. On that date, O'Donnell was charged with damage to property, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of alcohol liquor after police found him with two smoking pipes and nine unopened beer cans, according to reports.

Since O'Donnell was previously trespassed from the park, the office contacted the Downers Grove Park District to determine whether to place him under arrested. The park district opted to file a complaint, so O'Donnell was placed in handcuffs and charged with trespass to real property.

Garage Graffiti Includes Nazi Swastika, Male Sex Organ

A woman told police she noticed graffiti on the backside of her garage around 7:20 p.m. The graffiti, done in white spray paint, included the letters "AP," a male sex organ, a Nazi swastika that also had the initials "AP," Chinese symbols and a smiley face with the letters "AP."

Car Burglary

A car in the 200 block of 56th Street was burglarized sometime between 11 p.m. April 21 and 6 a.m. April 22, police said. The owner told police he noticed miscellaneous items strewn about the front seats and that his iPod was missing. The car was parked in the owner's driveway with the doors unlocked, police said.

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

Broken Vending Machine at McCollum Park

An unknown offender broke the front glass of a vending machine at McCollum Park, 8801 Main St., sometime between 8 p.m. on April 19 and 6 a.m. on April 20, police said.

Stolen Purse

Police were dispatched to a store in the 2900 block of Highland Avenue around 1:30 p.m. for a report of a stolen clutch. The owner said a clutch containing multiple credit cards was removed from her purse, which was zippered shut in her shopping cart, police said.
