Two Kids Beat Up on Indian Trail Playground

Obstructing justice, disorderly conduct among reports.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Battery

Two juveniles were roughed up by two other kids playing basketball on the playground at Indian Trail School on March 26 around 7 p.m. after the juveniles yelled “sarcastic things” at the kids playing basketball because they thought they knew them from school. The kids playing basketball came over, pushed the juveniles to the ground and one of them started choking one of the juveniles until someone else on the playground broke it up and the kids playing basketball ran off.

Obstructing Justice

After being pulled over on Finley March 21 for driving without having a registration sticker displayed, Sheketa Dykes, 25 of 156 N. Wood in Chicago, was charged with Obstructing Identification after attempting to give officers fake information about her identity. Dykes was also charged with Improper Display of Registration Sticker and Driving While License Suspended.

Burglary From Motor Vehicle

A gold ring valued at $100 and a set of keys were stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 4400 block of Elm overnight on March 26.

Curfew

A 15-year-old female was charged with a Curfew Violation after being picked up by Villa Park police and transferred to DGPD officers on March 26 around 11:15 p.m.

Criminal Damage to Property

Four decorative solar lights valued at $25 were damaged in the 5600 block of Elinor sometime overnight on March 25.

An unknown object damaged a triple-pane window valued at $800 in the 2100 block of Midhurst sometime overnight on March 21.

Vandalism

Two flowers were drawn in black paint or ink on two separate exterior walls of Whittier School sometime on March 22. Damaged was estimated at $10.

Theft Under $500

A Weber charcoal grill valued at $90 was stolen from a driveway in the 6200 block of Chase sometime overnight on March 25 after the grill was left out to cool.

A Schwinn 12-speed bicycle valued at $300 was stolen from the Main Street Depot sometime between March 24 and March 26.

Disorderly Conduct

A resident told officers a 42-year-old man came to her house in the 5500 block of Wilcox on March 15 around 3 p.m. yelling that her son was a thief and the man was going to kick his ass for stealing an income tax check from him. The man left the property, and when police spoke to him, he apologized for his behavior, and police told him to stay away from the property.
