Underage Drinking, Iced Coffee Argument: Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, JULY 3

Underage Drinking

Jason D. Sinnick, 18, of the 4400 block of Chateau Place, Lisle, was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Sinnick was pulled over at 12:53 a.m. after police saw four people in the back of his tan 1997 Buick.

"I observed Jason to have glassy eyes, partially slurred speech, and an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath as he spoke," the police report for this incident said. "Jason denied having consumed any alcohol."

Another officer arrived at the scene to assist with standardized field sobriety tests, the outcome of which was redacted in the report provided by police. Then an officer put handcuffs on Sinnick and transported him to the Downers Grove Police Department.

Sinnick was booked, processed and released on I-bond with a to-be-determined court date. He was released to his parents, who also picked up the Buick.

FRIDAY, JUNE 28

Large Cart Stolen

A man reported that a large orange ball cart used to move nursery trees was missing from the 2300 block of Wisconsin Avenue. The cart went missing sometime between 6:32 p.m., which is when the man finished a meeting with his employees, and 8:20 p.m., when he returned to the block to store other equipment for the weekend. Sometimes the man's employees borrow equipment, but never without asking. He contacted them and none of them had it. The cart is valued at $400, according to a police report.

THURSDAY, JUNE 27

Wallet, Cash Taken From Vehicle

Someone took a $20 brown wallet with $115 cash from an unlocked car on the 5100 block of Cornell Avenue. The incident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., according to a police report. The wallet was left inside the car on top of the center console. 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26

Man Argues Iced Coffee Price

A 19-year-old male customer got into an augment with a cashier at 5:15 p.m. on the 1200 block of 75th Street. The man ordered four large iced coffees and was told that he could only get the 99-cents sale price on two of them because that was the limit. The man began yelling at the cashier that it was "f---ing bull----," according to a police report.

When the man continued yelling obscenities, the cashier said he was going to call the police. The man then handed the cashier a $10 bill and said he would pay for the coffees, but the cashier refused to sell and walked outside. The man told police he swore at the cashier, and that the casher started yelling some "gangster s---" at him, according to a police report. He agreed to leave the store with his $10 and not return.
