Woman Wakes to Find Man Looking Through Her Window

Possession of controlled substance, criminal damage to property among reports.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

Suspicious Incident

A resident at the Prentiss Creek Apartments told police she woke up to find a black male looking at her through her second floor bedroom window at 2:50 a.m. on March 20. When she saw the male, he repeatedly said “it's me, it's me” and when the resident screamed the male jumped down off an overturned garbage can and ran off.

Possession of a Controlled Substance

Daniel Zobjeck, 29 of 5881 Woodward, was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance after a traffic stop resulted in officers recovering 5 individually wrapped pieces of tin-foil containing a white substance believed to be heroin from one of Zobjeck's shoes. Zobjeck was also cited for Improper Turn.

Criminal Damage to Property

The front windshield of a church bus parked at Marquette Manor on 75th street was shot out by what appeared to be BB pellets sometime overnight on March 15. Damage was estimated at $500.

Two windows of a car parked in a driveway in the 5400 block of Cumnor Road overnight on March 18 were shattered and a dent was left in the rear driver's side of the car as well. The damage appeared to have been created by a couple of large rocks, but the vehicle's owner had no clue who might have done it. Damage was estimated at $600.

Possession of Alcohol by a Minor

A 15-year-old female juvenile was charged with Possession of Alcohol by a Minor after an officer observed the girl sitting along a wall of a closed business in the 1100 block of Gilbert Ave around 1 p.m. on March 19. When the officer approached the juvenile, she got up to walk away but was brought back to the scene when the officer spotted an open beer bottle where the girl was sitting.

Theft Under $500

Hubcaps valued at $200 were stolen off a car parked at the Cameo West Condos on Walnut sometime overnight on March 18.

A UPS package was stolen from the lobby of the DG Terrace Condos on Douglas Road sometime in the afternoon on March 19.

A backpack and its contents were stolen from the Main Street Depot sometime between March 19 and March 21. The items were valued at $60.

The front wheel of a bicycle was stolen at the Main Street Depot sometime between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on March 20. The wheel was valued at $50.

Drunk in Public

Erica Aponte, 36 of 705 W. Liberty Street in Wheaton, was charged with Drunk in Public after officers observed Aponte asleep on a bench with a beer can in her hand and more beer near her feet at the Main Street Depot on March 20 around 7:15 a.m.

Residential Burglary

A laptop, watches and laptop charger were stolen from a residence at the Acadia on the Green in the 900 block of Burlington sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. on March 20. The residents returned to find the items missing and the doors locked. The items were valued at $620.
