Women Attempt to Lure Kids into Vehicle (UPDATE)

Two women offered candy to small girls on February 16.

On February 16, 2012 at 4:25 p.m., Downers Grove Police responded to a suspicious incident in the 7200 block of Bateman Street. Upon arrival, officers determined that two young children were playing in the backyard of a nearby residence when a black vehicle drove past and turned around. As the vehicle made a second pass in front of the residence, the occupants of the vehicle yelled to the children and offered them candy while holding their hands out the window of the vehicle. The occupants never exited the vehicle and left the scene prior to the arrival of police. The occupants of the vehicle are described as two white females between 25 to 45 years old.

Downers Grove Police have increased patrols in the area as well as at local schools.  They are asking everyone to remind children to be aware of potential dangers and report any concerns immediately. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is being asked to contact this Police Department immediately at (630) 434-5600

An eight-year-old girl and her friend were offered candy by two adult women on February 16 in a possible attempt to lure the girls into the women's vehicle.

The incident occured around 4:30 p.m. in the 7200 block of Batemen, Trib Local is reporting.

The women didn't exit the black vehicle or approach the yard the girls were in at the time, according to police.
