District 58, District 99 School Board Meetings Set for Tonight

Tonight's Downers Grove Grade School District 58 board meeting will feature a public hearing on the condition of an asphalt sidewalk at Belle Aire School and an asphalt playground at Henry Puffer School. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Longfellow Center, 1435 Prairie Ave.

A resolution regarding the condition of the installations and funding for their repair is on the board's active agenda for later in the meeting.

The board also will discuss tax objections and the superintendent evaluation process. 

Among the presentations scheduled for the meeting is information about this year's District 58 Education Foundation grants to schools.

Later, the board will go into closed session to discuss ongoing negotiations with the Downers Grove Educational Support Personnel (DGESP) union, which represents the district's support staffers. The district is currently in mediation with the group, whose contract expired June 30.

Meanwhile, the Community High School District 99 school board is moving up its monthly business meeting a week. It will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Administrative Service Center, 6301 Springside Ave.

The board will hear a report on the district's summer school and alternative education programs. It is also scheduled to vote on the 2011 summer school plan, as well as the 2011-12 school calendar and curriculum proposals.
