Downers Grove Approves New Parking Permit for 'Reverse Commuters'

The Downers Grove village board on Tuesday approved a special parking permit for "reverse commuters" at its downtown garage, which would give the Metra riders a place to leave their car overnight so they can drive to work in the morning, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The parking permit will cost $130 permit per quarter to allow riders to park on the second floor of downtown parking deck between 3 p.m. and 9 a.m. and the village is expecting to issue around 20 of the permits, according to the article.

The move could free up space overnight on the first level of the deck, which is where reverse commuters are currently paying $195 per quarter to park at but is meant "for people who live in the downtown business district," according to the Chicago Tribune.
