The Downers Grove Public Library is doing a great job keeping patrons updated on the current renovation.
Construction on the $2.6 million renovation began April 1 and is now moving into the second week. The project will be completed by mid-September.
Here are the latest project updates:
The upstairs computer room is closed. Public computers are grouped together on the east side of the second floor.
The exterior alley book drop is unavailable. Look for the arrow for the item return area in the lobby.
The second floor restrooms are now closed. Restrooms on the first floor near the north entrance are available for use.
An impromptu storytime was held in the back of the Junior Room on Saturday, April 5. We'll host storytimes as space allows.
Starting Wednesday, some wall framing will begin. Expect some dust and noise. The automatic item sorter in Circulation Services is also coming soon. This will get items back on the shelves and in your hands quicker. A viewing window will let you see it, according to DGPL’s website.
Patrons can watch the renovation magically spring to life by following its progress on the Downers Grove Public Library Facebook page.If you’re a habitual library user, or lurker who likes to hang out at the library but can't check anything out because of overdue book fines, you can sign up to receive continuous continuous updates via email, subscribe to the reNews Newsletter.
We can’t wait to see what’s coming up next week.
