Knottingham Reconstruction and Water Main Replacement

A second neighborhood meeting was held on January 31, 2012. It was attended by approximately 35 residents. Village staff presented the design plans and discussed various aspects of the proposed construction, including phases and access. As a result of input received at the first neighborhood meeting, where a small group of residents voiced concern with speeding within the subdivision, Village Staff conducted a speed study in the fall of 2011. Based on the results of this study, and input from residents, traffic calming in the form of pavement narrowing has been incorporated into the plans at three locations throughout the subdivision. At the meeting on the 31st, a small group of residents voiced the opinion that the traffic calming measures would not be sufficient. The overwhelming sentiment received from those in attendance, however, as well as those who commented via email and verbally, was that the proposed traffic calming measures are appropriate, and that more aggressive measures, such as speed humps or tables, would not be desirable.

The project is scheduled to be advertised for bid on Monday February 6th, with a bid opening date of February 21st. The project is planned to be awarded in March with construction to begin the first week of April.
