Patch Poll: Is Usage of Government Facilities for Partisan Events Okay?

Sandack hosted event on Thursday raises question, debate.

In a recent blog entry on Patch written on behalf of former Downers Grove mayor and current State Senator Ron Sandack, it was announced Sandack would be hosting a "Springfield 101" Town Hall meeting at the Thursday night.

According to the blog entry, attendees will "learn how an idea becomes a law, what can stop a good bill from becoming a good law, and why it can be difficult to pass meaningful reform in Springfield." Additionally, Sandack will "also give a Springfield update on what is occurring with budget and pension reform."

The decision to hold the meeting at the village hall has prompted a lot of discussion in the comments section of the blog about whether it's acceptable, and one resident brought it up during a public comment section of Tuesday's village council meeting.

So, is it okay? Is this event any different in spirit from the Downers Grove Township Democrats who hold their meetings at the C? Is it even a big deal if a partisan group meets in a taxpayer funded facility so long as it's an even playing field?

Answer the poll question below and share your thoughts in the comments.
