Preliminary Election Results for Local Races

Here is a rundown of the unofficial results from area races of interest as of 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.

81st State House

As of 10:30 p.m. with 96 percent of precincts reporting, it was a close race between Ron Sandack, who lead with 5,883 votes, over Keith R. Matune, who had 5,858 votes, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The Daily Herald reports no Democrat challengers have filed for the seat.

8th Congressional

With 98 percent of precincts reporting as of 10 p.m., Larry Kaifesh lead over Manju Goel with 71.4 percent of votes — or 22,962 votes, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The winner of the race will take on Democratic incumbent Tammy Duckworth this fall, according to the Daily Herald.

11th Congressional

With 95 percent of precincts reporting as of 10:18 p.m., Darlene Senger lead with 37.2 percent or 12,386 total votes, according to the Chicago Tribune. Chris Balkema had 32.1 percent or 10,665 votes and Bert Miller had 26.1 percent or 8,684 votes, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The winner of the race will take on Democratic U.S. Rep. Bill Foster in this fall’s general election, according to the Daily Herald.

24th State Senate

With 97 percent of precincts reporting as of 10:20 p.m., Chris Nybo lead with 14,463 votes over Dennis M. Reboletti who had 10,152 votes, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The winner of the race will go up against Democrat Suzanne Glowiak of Western Springs during fall’s general election, according to the Daily Herald.

42nd State House

With 96 percent of precincts reporting, Jeanne M. Ives lead with 63 percent — or 8,326 — total votes over Adam Johnson, who had 4,900 votes, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The Daily Herald reports no Democrat has filed for this seat.

48th State House

With 96 percent of precincts reporting, Peter Breen lead with 56.9 percent or 8,015 total votes over Sandra M. Pihos who had 6,073 votes as of 10:18 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The Daily Herald reports no Democrat has filed for this seat.

DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioner 

With 676 of 756 precincts reporting in DuPage County as of 10 p.m., here are the unofficial results: 
  • Republican Joe Cantore: 47,297; 64.40 percent
  • Republican Mary Lou Wehrli: 26,148 votes; 35.60 percent
