State Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) will serve on the new Illinois House Republican leadership team beginning Nov. 1, House Republican Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) announced Oct. 11.
“As Floor Leader, Representative Sandack will lead our caucus in all floor debates and negotiations during veto session and during the spring session which runs from January through May,” Durkin said in a press release. “Representative Sandack is the perfect choice for this important role because he is very well-respected for his knowledge of the issues and for his ability to concisely articulate our caucus message.”
Sandack, who served in the Illinois Senate before moving over to the House in January 2013, said he was honored to be named as the caucus’ official floor leader.
“I’m looking forward to leading our caucus on the House floor as we debate the many important issues that will come before us in the coming months,” Sandack said in the release. “As the House discusses critical issues such as pension reform and job creation, I consider it an honor and a privilege to take the lead for the 47 Republicans who currently serve in the House of Representatives.”
Sandack will officially assume his role on Nov. 1.
In Springfield, Sandack serves as the ranking Republican and spokesperson for the Economic Development and Roads Committees and also serves on the Tollway Oversight, Health Care Licenses, International Trade & Commerce, Judiciary, Labor & Commerce, Transportation and Regulation Committees and the General Law Subcommittee.
Joining Sandack on the House Republican leadership team for 2013-14 are Deputy House Republican Leaders Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) and David Leitch (R-Peoria), Conference Chair Chad Hayes (R-Danville), and Assistant House Republican Leaders Mike Bost (R-Carbondale), Dan Brady (R-Normal), Bill Mitchell (R-Decatur), JoAnn Osmond (R-Gurnee), Dennis Reboletti (R-Addison) and Mike Tryon (R-Crystal Lake).
