Sen. Christine Radogno Announces Bid for Re-Election

Illinois Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) announced Tuesday that she will seek re-election from the 41st District.

She has served in the Illinois Senate since 1997, and has represented the 41st District since 2003.

“I still have the same passion and commitment for serving our community as I did when I decided to make the transition from at-home mom to public servant,” Radogno said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to be an effective voice in Springfield for the families, seniors, employers and working people of the 41st District."

The newly drawn 41st District includes portions of Burr Ridge, Darien, Downers Grove, Homer Glen, Indian Head Park, LaGrange, Lemont, Lisle, Naperville, Western Springs, Willowbrook and Woodridge.

Radogno is currently serving her second term as the leader of the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus. Her election to the position in 2009 marked the first time in state history that a woman was chosen as the leader of either party in the house or senate.

In the statement, Radogno said she will remain committed to reducing government spending and balancing the budget.

“Until Illinois gets its fiscal house in order, our communities, schools, social service providers and employers will be adversely affected by the uncertainty of budget deficits,” she said. “I remain committed to ensuring that our budgetary challenges are resolved, so our companies can grow, our schools can achieve and our less fortunate can be properly served.”
