Storms Knock Out Internet Access at Downers Grove Public Library

Service is not expected to be restored until Saturday, according to library officials.

A line of severe storms knocked out Internet access at the Downers Grove Public Library on Tuesday night, and service is not expected to be restored for several days.

The disruption temporarily shut down the library's website, and has prevented customers from using public computers, according to library spokesperson Melissa Doornbos.

Although it was not immediately clear what caused the outage, the fix requires a new part, which will delay restoration until Saturday, Doornbos said.

The library will be open during regular hours for the remainder of the week. Patrons who wish to check out material must bring their library cards.

Items that are currently checked out should not be returned until Monday, June 3. All late fees will be waived.
