Village Council Approves Proposal to Close Intersection

The Downers Grove village council recently approved a proposal to close the intersection of Webster Street at 55th Street to improve safety as DuPage County continues construction work in an area that has limited visibility "due to grade changes in the road," according to the Chicago Tribune.

Commissioner Geoff Neustadt said essentially making Webster a dead end on the north side  of 55th Street could prevent collisions from those turning onto 55th Street, which can be "pretty dangerous," according to the Chicago Tribune.

A reconstruction project on 55th Street got underway last year and is expected to wrap up in June, according to the Illinois Division of Transportation website.
