The  will host a group bicycle ride Saturday to collect feedback on its current Bikeway and Pedestrian Plan.

Riders will leave McCollum Park, 6801 S. Main St., at 10 a.m., immediately following Coffee with the Council, a forum for residents to interact with village commissioners.

The group will travel north along Fairmount Avenue to Maple Avenue, through downtown Downers Grove. They will then head south on Dunham Road to return to McCollum Park, bringing the ride to about 7 miles, or 90 minutes.

Last August, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning awarded a grant to the Village of Downers Grove to update its Bikeway and Pedestrian Plan, which was drafted in June 2000.

The three main objectives of the plan, according to village officials, are to develop a comprehensive biking and walking network, to increase safety throughout the village by developing a public education and outreach plan, and to market bicycling and walking throughout the community as viable transportation options.

A draft of the new plan is scheduled to be presented to the village council in October.

Those unable to attend the group ride Saturday can still provide feedback by emailing the village at dgpedbikeplan@downers.us.
