Village of Downers Grove Plans Public Meetings on 2013 Storms

The village will host three public meetings in the coming weeks to seek feedback on its 2013 Storm Report.

The village of Downers Grove will host several meetings in the coming weeks to obtain community input on its preliminary 2013 Storm Report. 

The open house meetings will be conducted from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Downers Grove Public Works Department, 5101 Walnut Ave., on the following dates:

  • Monday, July 29
  • Tues, July 30 
  • Thursday, August 1  

All are welcome to attend at any time between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Staff members will be available to answer questions, and the input gathered will be used to help finalize the Storm Report and plan future drainage improvements.

Storm Report

Staff Report: April 2013 Storm Event - Prepared July 1, 2013

The preliminary report, published July 1, provides a summary and analysis of the April 17-18, 2013 storm event, key findings, and preliminary recommendations for future improvements and maintenance activities for the stormwater management system, according to village officials. 

To prepare the report, village staff and consulting engineers analyzed information provided by residents and business owners through personal meetings, photos, emails, surveys and videos.

A final report with recommendations will be completed in August, in time for the 2014 budget process, which begins in September.
